Hallo Hipsters
Einstein famously said, “Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love”. Even though we suspiciously trip over our own feet in his or her presence, Einstein was right. Scientists discovered that chemicals like vasopressin and dopamine are the real culprits behind this thing called love – making it more about biology than psychology... Join the Hip team as we expose the science behind other ‘mysteries’ in the month of love.

Making headlines: Double-dipping your chip is a sin
The Journal of Food Safety recently conducted a research into the bacteria found in the humble dip bowl based on a Seinfeld episode where a character does the unthinkable by ‘double-dipping’ his chips at a party.
Their findings were very interesting… Let’s just say you need to be OK with kissing everyone in the room at the next party you go to. Seeing you don’t know who might be double dipping, anyone could be sharing their saliva with you. Eeeuw!

The (Don’t) Do This At Home Experiments: Perform the Balducci levitation (like David Blaine)
(Pssst…turn the computer screen away from the prying eyes of friends and family when reading this article. You don’t want to give your secrets away, do you?!)
You’ve seen Mr. Blaine rise 10 centimetres above the ground - now you can too. Just follow these few easy steps and observe the gobble-smacked expressions all around. A little bit of eye-trickery goes a long way...
- Stand in front of the person with your back facing away, and your body positioned at about a 45-degree angle to the person's point of view.
- Turn so that they can see your left foot and heel, and the back of your right heel.
- Use your hidden right toes to slowly push yourself up a few inches, keeping your heels together.
- Remember to keep the heel of the foot closest to the person level with the ground, to provide a sense of level levitation.
- Hold the position for 2 or 3 seconds, then let yourself down quickly, avoiding sudden moves or shudders.
