We went back to school a couple of weeks ago. I’m now in Grade 10, so that’s great, ‘cos we’re sorta seniors now! It’s also nice ‘cos I got to drop the subjects that I’m useless at, like Art & Technology!
Great news is that I got into the school’s major production again! This year we’re doing “Hello Dolly!” which is a love story about a match maker who tries to get a rich businessman to fall in love, but ends up doing just that in the process!
It sounds pretty exciting, and the practices are starting soon, beginning with us auditioning for parts on Tuesday.
We went to the cricket on Friday, which was a 20 over game between SA and West Indies. We almost didn’t go because it had been raining the whole day, but we figured we had nothing to lose, so we went to the Wanderers Stadium, and, would you know, it didn’t rain a drop as soon as we got there! It was also great because they gave free hardhats and huge flags to the first few people to arrive, so we felt like real fans, even though I’ve never been to a cricket match in my life. The atmosphere was great, especially since it was Shaun Pollock’s last 20 over game. We thought we would thrash the Windies, after their innings of only 131-7, but it turned out that we struggled, and won with only 4 balls to spare. Especially after Gibbs went out for a duck, I thought hope was lost, but AB de Villiers and Polly saved the day!
There were dancers who performed after every 4, 6 or wicket, and the massive scoreboards let off fireworks and smoke as well. It was really awesome!
It’s been a great week; I just wish the rain would stop! Our garden is starting to resemble the Niagara Falls!
