December is finally here! And I shall be undertaking the long and arduous journey to the holiday hotspot of...Kleinmond.
Unfortunately, holidays have pretty much disappeared from my schedule. Even my beauty therapist told me with much joy that this year will be her first Christmas holiday in eight long years. While I do get to enjoy the holiday season just like everyone else, I can’t travel too far away from home or go away for too long. Being a radio DJ means that I still have to be available to do my show as well as stand in for my colleagues who go on leave this time of the year.
So, why Kleinmond you ask? Because it’s not too far away, Hermanus is around the corner, it’s peaceful, there’s a beach and the cellphone signal is terrible sometimes, making me blissfully unreachable. Hopefully, I’ll get to spend at least 10 days out there even if I have to travel back in for work.
Unlike last Christmas, I’m going to be taking it very easy instead of running around every day. Next year, my family calendar is choc-a-bloc with events and we’re all going to need a good rest before the madness begins. My brother turns 21 (big party!), there are three 1st birthdays for three very special children in my family (also big party!), both my grandparents celebrate their golden wedding anniversaries (bigger party!), my father turns 50 (really big party!) and I also hit another age milestone (biggest party!). As you can see, there’s a lot of planning to be done as well as a family trip to Pretoria to visit my uncle and his family.
For now though, my focus is on finishing my Christmas shopping by next week, putting up the Christmas tree this weekend and enjoying a lovely calm summer with my family and friends.
