I'll never get my head around the Internet....Just when I think I have a type of "networking system" figured out - it throws a spin ball at me and I end up suffering from a severe case of WILF. I mean, talk about choices. I can't even deal with a Spur menu!
Choices are strange: Give yourself too many to choose from and you end up choosing nothing.
I experienced this phenomenon in school orals. When my teacher gave us a specific subject to talk about, I could always surpass the ‘standard’ oral by thinking outside the box. I had a good idea what other people were going to do with the same subject matter and therefore I concentrated on delivering a different product. If she however gave us free reign to choose ANY topic, I never knew what to talk about because there was no box to work 'out' from. Anything anybody did seemed new and innovative because everything was different.
But getting back to the Internet…
What I do love about it, is that it succumbs to basic logic.
The other day I was losing my head trying to find an innovative and enticing website that I can share with you guys on the mobizine. I searched gazillion categories and then the sub-categories of the categories that I didn't really like or find really interesting in the first place, and then the sub of the subs and so on and so forth.
Then a 'brainwave' struck me. I typed in 'interesting websites' and started exploring the endless and applicable treats that the Net delivered on a silver platter.
(Logic? Maybe I was just being dumb in the first place?!)
