I would say that the book that has had the biggest effect on my life is the book by Mitch Albom, “Tuesdays with Morrie”.

It was our set book for school last year, and I must admit, I wasn’t really looking forward to it. See, the cover looked pretty boring, and I’ve got a bad habit of judging books by their covers. So, we when we started on it, I wasn’t particularly excited. However, as it progressed, I realised that it really was an amazing book.

The story is about a man (Mitch) who meets up with his old university lecturer (Morrie), only to find that Morrie has been diagnosed with amnyotropic multiple sclerosis, which is a degenerative disease to which there is no cure. Mitch decides to come and visit Morrie every Tuesday, even though they live in separate states. Each week they talk about something important in life, because Morrie now has a new perspective of life because he has to face his own slow and painful death. These discussions help Mitch to deal with all of the problems in his life, and become a better person in general.

The book really inspired me because it dealt with lots of aspects like death, money, family and society. It explains how death really isn’t that bad, but that you should always live your life as if each day is your last. It shows how much more important family and friends are than money, fame, or what the world thinks of you.
It’s quite amazing to see how one man can have such absolute opinions on everything, and it just goes to show how being so sure of your principles and values can help you to lead a full and happy life.

I really learnt a lot from this book, and it’s helped me to change my mindset in life. I really recommend that you give it a try!
