The book that changed my life was definitely Jodi Picoult’s novel, My Sister’s Keeper. I am a self-confessed Potter-holic and I adore Philip Pullman, but somehow I could relate perfectly to the scenario in the book and the relationship dynamics between the characters. Picoult has a way of explaining scenarios and dynamics between people that is indescribable. Not many people know that I have scoliosis and kyphosis, which is a curvature of the spine both vertically and horizontally. I have had to wear 2 back braces to try and correct this curve that I was born with. Even though one of the characters in the book, Kate, is terminally ill and her sister, Anna, is her donor and the ‘healthy child’, I often feel that my amazing sister, Aimee, has often had to take the role of being the healthy, strong child because of my back problems. This book showed me that no matter who you are or what you may suffer from, your family and parents love you all equally and will do so forever. The book is really sad, but will change your opinion if you think that your parents may have ‘favourite’ children.

The book shows that:
Friends come can go; family are the ones that stick around forever!

My top 7 books so far are:

  • My Sister’s Keeper (Jodi Picoult)
  • His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman)
  • Harry Potter (Yes – the cliché!)
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective teens (Steven Covey)
  • Quantum Theory Cant Hurt You (Marcus Chown) – what can I say, I am a nerd at heart ;-)
  • Angels and Demons (Dan Brown)
  • I have Life (Alison’s story)

Happy birthday to me for the 7TH of March! He he! Had the best day ever!
