Ooh, what a hard one. I might have mentioned before that I am a real fan of children’s literature. The latest read I found in an ABC bookshop by the Goodwood organic market, and it was called ‘Popular stories for girls.’ It was a breath of fresh air. The characters were so ‘upright and proper’ – really goodie two shoes. The style of writing was different to modern children’t books, with a real emphasis on good triumphing over evil, being upstanding citizens of the world and friendships based on loyalty, fun and complete honesty. I was thoroughly absorbed. I also bought in one foul swoop, 101 Dalmations and the Hardy Boys Adventures, which I’m getting cracking on. Already, I sense that the tale of the dalmation puppies is somewhat different to the Disney classic we are all familiar with. Each to their own, but I find immersing myself in children’s fantasy allows me to keep in touch with my own inner child, and to imaginatively explore and recreate the world as I see fit…
