This whiz kid was both a corporate founder and a president by age 13!
Ever heard of Water Talkies? Richie invented them while on holiday in Hawaii. Frustrated that he couldn’t communicate with his dad under the water while they were snorkelling, he went home and designed an underwater megaphone using the internet for research, his pool as test lab and $267 of his savings as his startup capital!
His company Short Stack insured that all major shops carried his product and by the summer of 1997 everybody was using the Water Talkie to chat underwater.
This humble product reaps an annual half a million dollars every year. That’s 4 million rand for us!
