As if there aren’t enough insects buzzing around the world already, scientists have decided to add to the population by inventing robo-flies…

A Japanese firm, Seiko Epson, have designed a tiny flying robot that can be used for security work, disaster rescue and space exploration.

The world's smallest robot flies autonomously according to a flight-route program sent by Bluetooth wireless from a computer and has two tiny ultrasonic motors that drive two propellers in opposite directions for lift.

The model is 136mm wide, 85mm tall and weighs 8.6 grams without the battery.
