We had our inter-schools swimming gala where we compete against the top schools in Pretoria on the 21st of February. This is an event I enjoy every year, but this year I was unfortunate to have a rugby practice on that day. This rugby session was two and a half hours of intense physical training, where I somehow bumped my nose open and my shirt was covered in blood soon after. After this, as I got into the car my dad informed me that we have to go pick up my sister at the inter-schools gala.

I thought it’ll be all right if it was just a simple pick up, but as we got to the gala, my dad instructed me to go into the crowds and look for her. Just as I walked into the gate, I spotted the girl I’ve had a crush on for a long time. I phoned my sister to tell her she must get me at the gate.

To make a long story short, there I was, in a yellow rugby shirt (full of blood and completely wet with sweat) short PT-pants, short socks and flops, and a red sunburned face. I felt so embarrassed. I’m sure she almost fainted as she smelt my odour as I gave her a hug. But at least I got a smile as she walked away, causing me to blush under my already red face.

Furthermore, Grade 11 is keeping me extremely busy and the teachers seem to never run out of tests and homework. I made provisional first team rugby, so that’s been keeping me busy as well.

Hope all you readers are doing well and enjoying the HIP2B² road show.
