It was so embarrassing! It actually happened this weekend when I was on a leadership camp, and the thing that sucks most is that all of my newly made friends on the camp witnessed the whole thing! So blind I tell you…

The committee member was calling out all the names of the participants in the camp to go up and receive a certificate of participation. As he read through the list, I prayed that when my name was called I wouldn’t do something stupid like trip or forget to shake the guy’s hand. Then suddenly, out of the blue, he called out an Ass-leigh Waterson. I almost died! As I slowly got up, the team began to erupt with laughter, followed by the guy trying to say my name correctly but saying Ass-leigh again instead. The poor guy had put such an emphasis on the first part of the word because they had left out the ‘H’ in my name on the certificate – ag shame! I was the butt of all jokes [no pun intended] for the rest of the weekend but, hey, at least I had fun laughing at myself :]
