In this age of recycling and upcycling we all have to do our bit for the environment - even if it means going to the toilet.
NoPoPo, a company in Japan have invented a green (or should we rather say ‘yellow’) rechargeable battery. Even though these batteries look like any other battery from the outside, the secret lies within its chemical makeup. Instead of mercury, they contain a mixture of magnesium and carbon. When you add water a reaction takes place that produces storable energy and thus the battery can be recharged.
The really nifty thing is that most liquids can be used to cause the reaction – even urine.
(Not taking in a word because you’re giggling about the name? Shame on you - NoPoPo means Non Polluting Power)
