To start a piece of writing is the most difficult thing for me. Do I introduce myself first, do I tell everyone out there how hard this writing thing is, do I just grab a topic and get going with it … you see, I’m still at a loss here! Decisions, Decisions …

OK, I suppose I have to start somewhere … I’m the new publisher of Hip2b2! A full three weeks now, and what an adventure! Getting to work with a super-passionate team, meeting interesting new people, looking for information for future issues … boy, the list just goes on and on …

Back to me, then. I’ve been in magazine publishing for 6 years now and really enjoy my work. I started out as a subeditor and proofreader … I love working on other people’s writings rather than doing the writing myself! I’m a bit, mmm, how can I say this gently … science and math challenged – I’m a words person … languages and music and history were my subjects at school many moons ago. I started with piano when I was 6 years old and I play to this day … definitely not as well as when I was 18 years old, but play I do. I love Mozart’s piano and orchestra music … yes, yes, I’m a nerd … I know, but it’s cool to be square, right? The burning question on the tip of your tongue is whether I like or even know other music … yes, I do like pop, rock, club and hip-hop … I can’t stand rap … I love Freshly Ground and I have been to Robbie Williams’ concert in Greenpoint stadium. So there … you see a totally modern nerd! I go to classical music concerts regularly and will bore you some more with classical music in the coming months!

I probably have to sign off. One last thing, I love Hip2b2.There’s so much stuff that I did not know! Once I read the first proofs, I could not stop and I cannot wait for the second issue’s proofs to arrive on my desk.

I’m sure you cannot wait for the second issue of Hip2b2 either. Lovely holiday reading after the exams and all that. In the meantime I’m catching up on easy science reading, just to keep up with the team. And my iPod is playing … you guessed it … Mozart!
