Wow! I have a few. One of my most treasured possesions is my pair of contact lenses.
A big thank you goes out to a Czech chemist, Otto Wichterle.
Honestly it took a while before I agreed to start using them and I have never looked back. What scared me most was the thought of having to use my fingers to put something in my eye. Eeuw! Imagine having to touch a gooey eye...
As time went on I got used to it.
I have short sighted vision, so I can't see very far. Driving at night was a nightmare without my glasses. Car lights looked like huge balls of light. I used to walk past people I knew in the road, because I didn't see them properly. Almost lost friends because they thought I was being rude. OK, it didn't get that bad. I joke. My friends knew, if I didn't have my glasses on I might as well be a mole on the road.
Now I can look like a shmodel on the beach with my huge sunglasses thanks to my contact lenes and get this girls - I can wear make up and not hide it behind my glasses.
So now you see why contacts are one of my treasured possessions.
PS I still wear my glasses while reading before I go to sleep... They're still one of my treasured possessions.
take care
