1902 – The wireless telephone was invented and just look at how much it has evolved in the last 100 years!   The mobile phone, the wireless, the hand phone, the cellular device or the cell phone…whatever you would like to call it, it is definitely the best invention of recent times!

Think of how many features the cell phone has…a camera, a video recorder, GPRS, internet, Bluetooth, a music player, a calendar, messaging services, a digital organiser, games and guess what…..it can even phone out!  But the newest application is probably the most popular amongst the teens and that is MXIT.

The phone is amazing in that you can be just about anywhere at any time and connect with someone who is miles and miles away.

It’s one of those inventions that you cannot live without and is one of the most popular forms of communication.

Even though I find my cell phone very useful, I do enjoy the times when I can go to the bush and forget about my phone and not rely on it.  The unfortunate thing about having all these fancy features is that we are forgetting about the importance of verbal communication.  This reminds me about something I saw on Carte Blanche last night and one question I would like to leave you with is: ‘Is dialogue dying in the digital world?”

Till next week…
Cheers
