The word dinosaur meaning “terrible lizard” was coined way back in 1842. We now know that dinosaurs aren’t lizards, although they share the same ancestors. Lizards are primitive (to say the least) compared to the likes of these giants!
Experts seem to believe birds may actually be living dinosaurs. Huh? Impossible!? Well, fossils from the past ten years show that some of the more advanced dinosaurs had feathers or feather-like body covering. These feathers weren’t for flight, though. The dino’s had these to aid them in keeping warm while young, as found in the siblings of our favourite bad guy, the T-Rex.
Seems like a credible theory when you consider the likes of an ostrich – it simply has to be pre-historic!
