“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.  We are all meant to shine as children do.  It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone.  And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

What an amazing piece of writing!  Most of you probably remember this speech from that inspirational movie, Coach Carter.  It was definitely the part that stands out the most for me and when I’m feeling low, it motivated me to be the best I can be.

But honestly, how true are these words.  Many times people are too scared to step out and take a stand.  Society has placed us in a box, our comfort zone.  But it is only when we step out this comfort zone do we actually achieve anything.  We need to ask more questions and try new things.  If you do the same thing every day of your life, you’re never going to learn anything new.  It’s when you venture into the unknown that exciting things start happening!

I would like to challenge each one of you to try something completely new and something you wouldn’t have normally chosen to do this weekend.  Why not borrow a bike and take a trip off road, hit the gym, paint a picture, talk to that stranger who’s new at school or even play an instrument!!  I’ll try if you do…How about you, Hip team, this one is for you guys aswel!

So let’s not let the world pass unseen…lets not just be another face in the crowd, a sheep in the flock.  Let’s step out, stand out, and make our voices heard!

Quote for the week -  Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it, boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
Johann Wolfgang van Goethe

Good luck to all those Midmar swimmers out there, I might join you next year but for the time being, I’ll stick to cycling!

Catch you all again next week=)
