Step 1
Hi, sorry for the late blog entries, hope you find this interesting! First of all this blog will contain the research and equipment side of building a computer. You will need the following:
- A case
- Monitor
- Motherboard
- Central Processing Unit(CPU)
- Random Access Memory(RAM)
- Hard Drive
- Optical Drive (aka CD ROM DRIVE)
- Power Supply (aka SMPS)
- Lastly, SA especially an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) due to Eskom!
- A Screw Driver and a bowl (lol to keep the screws)
Can you believe that you only need 9/10 things to build a PC. They are other things you can add, but these are the most critical. Other add-ons are:
- Graphics Card
- Sound Card
- Floppy Drive
- Additional Hard Drive
- An extra Fan
You may think this is very complex but it is not really, it took me only 1 and half hours to build my computer. I have so far built about 5 computers, and dismantled another 5 just so I can put them back together to learn more. I bought my parts from overseas (India to be exact), but if your looking to build a PC, I recommend going to CHAOS.

These sites will tell the best available products in the market. You might not know what the specifications mean, but there is always me who can help or various computer shops. Once you have a reasonably idea of what you want, go to step 2.
