Haven’t said goodbye to your dial up? You should, as ADSL makes life so much easier.

This handy little connection is the reason we are online all the time. ADSL changed everything with its high speed, affordability and all-round usefulness.

ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a form of data communications technology that allows faster data transmission over copper telephone lines than a conventional voiceband modem can provide. It does this by using frequencies that aren’t used by a voice telephone call. A splitter or a microfilter allows a single telephone connection to be used for both ADSL service and voice calls at the same time.

As the volume of data flow is greater in one direction than the other, it makes you able to use the higher speed direction to download from the Internet without you needing to run servers that would require high speed in the other direction.

The fact that you can be connected to the internet and make phone calls is a novelty that has worn off, but a few years ago it was a brand spanking new idea that revolutionised the way we access the internet for good.

Now everything is just a click away!
