This week has been pretty quiet, although it’s our school’s Fun Day this Saturday, which I’m really looking forward to.
This is how it works:
- Each class chooses a theme, according to the number of our class. So, since we’re 10B, we’ve decided to be Borat! Ashleigh Waterson, one of the other BAs, in 11J, are doing Johnny Walker, which is going very well for them
- The class must then advertise its theme, using posters, pamphlets, and even bribing teachers with sweets and stuff! They can also do little skits in front of the school. For example, my brother’s class, 12F, is doing fairytales, so every morning they pretend to be a different story. So far, he’s been one of the seven dwarves, a kid listening to bedtime stories, and Prince Charming!
- Each class chooses a guy and girl model, who perform at a fashion show at the school the night before, for extra points
- We also have a soccer tournament on the Friday before, and on the same day, we get to dress up as our themes. We’re still trying to find a guy in our class who’s insane enough to wear the green costume… (Just don’t try and picture it; you’ll probably be traumatised for the rest of your life!)
- Finally, on the actual day of Fun Day, the whole class takes part in lots of activities, like volleyball, a 4km run, Tug o’ War and water slides, to score more points.
- At the end of the day, there’s a parade of all the classes, and then the winners are announced. There’s one overall winner, and a winner for each grade. The overall winning class gets to spend a day at Sun City! The other winners get to go to the movies and stuff
- Everyone then goes home in pain, and tries not to notice how sore their legs are, or the amount of light is radiating from their sunburn.
So there you go, I’ll let you know how it went next week! Oh, and hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day. I think I have enough chocolate to last me ‘til Valentine’s Day four years from now! :-)
