This is a job for all the nerdy foodies out there…

Food Science and Technology
combines three of the coolest things on earth – eating, science and engineering. Through incorporating concepts from many different fields including microbiology, chemical engineering, and biochemistry a food scientist ensures people have safe and nutritious foods.

You could be involved in the development of new food products (think real-life Willy Wonka!), designing brainy processes to produce these foods, choosing packaging materials, doing shelf-life studies and arranging taste tests with potential consumers. Mmmm…

Many universities and technicons in South Africa offer courses in Food Science.
