I just have to say… I was not impressed when I got to the Durban airport, only to find out that my flight had been delayed by 6 hours!

Six hours is a long time to spend waiting, although, with a Harry Potter book in my laptop bag, it wasn’t all dull and dreary. I am an addict… and have to admit that I am rereading the Half Blood Prince before moving onto the last instalment. Refresh the memory so that the last book really resonates!

I have always loved reading, and I think this stems back to the days when my parents would read to my siblings and I, while we hung onto every word, huddled under the duvet. Fond memories of Anne of Green Gables, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe spring to mind…

I had my first chance to read through the latest Hip magazine this morning – and it was a page-turner. I really do hope that other people find it as fascinating as I do. It makes me think, and takes my mind wandering along alternate paths it wouldn’t otherwise venture down.

My favourites are ‘The Beauty of Maths’ and the ‘Balls’ piece. I guess they just appeal to my personality. And, strangely enough – I say this as Maths was not a favourite subject at school, especially trigonometry and geometry – I found myself doing the maths problems. Perhaps it’s not too late to teach an old (26) dog new tricks…
