Marine Biosciences Month: August 2008
August is Marine Biosciences Month. This month, we celebrate South Africa's involvement in this field of science, research being conducted and the new frontiers being explored. Activities during Marine Biosciences Month include exhibitions, excursions, cartoons and radio interviews.

Interprovincial Maths Olympiad: 4 September 2008
The South African Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO) is the official national mathematics competition. It is a three round competition with interesting questions and nice prizes. The three rounds take place in April, June and September of each year. The provincial (and final) round is on 4 September.

National Mathematics Week: 8 – 12 Sept 2008
The activities during Maths Week aim to make Maths more interesting, attractive, relevant, challenging, rewarding and engaging to learners and the community at large. They will highlight the impact of Maths on our daily lives and show the importance of Maths as a foundation for careers in science, technology and management jobs.
