Do you like sampling perfumes? Good news! Japanese cellphone users are about to test a new service which allows them to download fragrances. Imagine that: You’ll even be able to sample fragrances while you’re sitting on the toilet (where it would serve more than one purpose!)
“Mobile Fragrance Communications” are supplying twenty participants with files they can download, accompanied by music or video clips. The handset’s infrared port is used to transfer the “smelly data” to a dedicated device similar to a plug-in air freshener that is loaded with a cartridge of base fragrances. It then mixes them and wafts out the chosen smell.
We can’t wait. It will probably take a bit longer to get the quality of these up to Givenchy’s standard!
