I seem to be winning the Hip team blog, going by number of entries posted. Does this mean that the most exciting things happen to me and therefore I blog about my experiences, or do I have the most spare time? Huh. Now there’s a thought. Amazingly enough, my time seems suddenly less strained, and I am pulled in less directions than before. Things are coming together nicely – and our media channels are shaping up beautifully. Just a few more days for the website’s new look to be released into the world!

I think I am finally learning the art of delegation – that you can’t do everything yourself, and that you have to trust others to interpret what you mean in the way you envisage. Complex. Another valuable corporate life lesson of late – say thank-you for your interest… why don’t you put a formal proposal together? This goes back to the tendency to try and do everything by myself. My idea. My brief. My instructions. You see, people are constantly coming to me asking how we can work together. Obviously the fabulousness of Hip and what we’re doing creates a “moth to a flame” syndrome, with companies and brands from all walks wanting to team up for projects. But, what happens is that they call and then expect you i.e. me to generate the ‘how we can work together’ ideas. Now, I am learning the art of tactfully saying no or passing the ball straight back to the other team to perfect the teamplay before bringing an idea back to the table.

And you know what? Suddenly I have more time…

P.S. Got to meet Lady Naturelle and Mandla from Gang of Instrumentals.
