The year 2007 started with me signing up for three major chess tournaments. In order for me to obtain my goal of victory, a lot of preparation was needed. In my mind, I created a set of outcomes which I had to achieve. It was my responsibility to make sure I established at least one outcome as each day passed and this was to be done in roughly an hour.
Before approaching each tournament, I would approach all the difficulties I was facing and try to overcome them using my talent and strength.
The first tournament of vital importance for me was the World U16 Olympiad which was held in Singapore. I finished the tournament with a score of 3.5 out of 8 on board 1 for my team. Singapore was definitely one of the highlights of my year since the time I had there was phenomenal.
My next trip was to Turkey for the World Youth Chess Championships. I played in the U14 section and scored 6.5/11. With that score I was placed 45th in the world in my section. Looking back, Turkey was beyond awesome and even better than Singapore.
My last major tournament for the year was the South African Junior Nationals. I played in the U16 section and won the title concluding with a score of 8/9.
