Just got in from a whirlwind trip to Joburg. As you probably know by now, we’ll be putting on a roadshow that will go to over 100 schools at the beginning of next year. In a sentence it is a “journey through science of the last 150 years”… and it promises to be a not-to-be-missed performance. It will use live performance as well as awesome audiovisual presentation, sound and lighting. It is going to be fantastic, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.
But I’m sidetracking. One of the reasons for my trip to Joey’s was to be in-studio with the rest of the crew behind-the-scenes and to get some video footage introducing Hip2b2, what we do and are all about. Enter Kate Evans, Communications Manager. I have new respect for presenters, let me tell you that. It takes a special kind of person to be ‘rehearsed’ but ‘natural.’
We used a teleprompter which made things so much better, especially as you repeat each verbal segment, like, a million times. “My name is Kate; My name is Kate; My name is Kate; My name is Kate”… Director: “now with more feeling this time; try to be more natural.” Argh!
It was actually quite fun despite the tricky bits, like walking and speaking simultaneously. But enough for now. I am back in the office and have to play catch-up. Later.
