Following the recent introduction of the Zeallous brand and Zeallous Racing, I decided to do an interview with Hugo Minnaar, manager of Zeallous. I spoke to him about the brand, F1 in Schools and what inspires him.
J: Hugo, you recently founded the Zeallous Company. What exactly is the company’s function(s) and through which channels do you work?
H: Zeallous is a brand name. It represents eco-friendly quality and promotes the sustainable use of resources. Zeallous is synonymous with high quality and sustainability. It aims to forge partnerships with other projects and companies which operate according to the same values.
J: What motivated you to start this project?
H: I believe that people must be able to trust a company or organization as they would trust their friends and family. I wanted to start something that would make a positive contribution to our society and to the world we live in – an initiative known for quality and good values. As a result, Zeallous was launched.
J: Could you explain the name to us? Does the double ‘l’ have any special significance?
H: The meaning of the name, Zeallous, corresponds with the meaning of the word “zealous” (showing zeal, passion, enthusiasm and endurance). The extra ‘l’ refers to leadership, loyalty and sustainable living.
J: Zeallous Racing is only one of Zeallous’ initiatives. Please tell us a little more. Are there any other initiatives that we can look forward to?
H: Yes, Zeallous Racing was Zeallous' first project. Zeallous Racing focuses on teaching the youth vital life skills through engineering. The other major initiative is Zeallous Media. Zeallous Media does graphic designing, layouts and other digital designing work. In the near future, Zeallous Media will publish a series of papers containing information on and advertisements of eco-friendly products and services such as solar panels. Some of the other initiatives include Zeallous Bio-Diesel (still looking for interested companies with waste oil), Zeallous Clothing, and an F1 in Schools team, Team Zeallous. In future, you will see a lot of expansion: from Zeallous food products to school stationary. The long-term focus is to become a world brand.
J: What is your role inside the company and what do your duties consist of?
H: I am the main founder and the Zeallous group. My main duties is to ensure that all of our divisions are doing business according to Zeallous values. All the paperwork go trough me before it is filed away so that I can always stay on top of what’s going on. My other big task is to seek more and better oppurtunities for Zeallous to expand and to find talented people to run the different divisions.
J: Can the public get involved in Zeallous and its initiatives, and if so, how?
H: Yes, anybody who agrees with Zeallous' values can contact us through our website’s contact form at http://www.zeallous.co.za/contact or give me a call on 073 023 7447. Any suggestions or comments are also more than welcome. There is also room for people or businesses that would like to become partners or would like to carry the Zeallous name. For example: If you have a dry-cleaning company and you promote sustainable use of resources and deliver quality work, you could contribute by connecting yourself to the Zeallous brand.
J: On a personal note, what/who is your inspiration? What are your plans for the future?
H: I’d have to say that Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin brand, is a big inspiration for me, but more personally my father is my inspiration. Before I turn 35 I would like Zeallous to be the name on everybody’s lips worldwide, for Zeallous to be a trusted brand name known for its quality, and to have a good reputation for having a positive effect on people and the environment. I want to be zealous for Leadership, Loyalty and sustainable Living while still enjoying life and having fun.
A big thanks to Hugo Minnaar for sharing his thoughts with us. Zeallous supports a noble cause with advantages to our communities and people. It presents an excellent opportunity to support a worthy cause. Why not get involved? For more information on Zeallous and how you can get involved, visit the website at http://www.zeallous.co.za.
