Mzansi inventions – Dolosse

In 1966 Aubrey Kruger came up with the original dolos design – an unusually shaped concrete block weighing up to 20 tons to protect harbour walls from the force of the sea. It does this by driving away, rather than blocking the energy of waves. They were developed in East London, a port city right here in South Africa, but are now used all over the world.
