Meet Sarah

Full name: Sarah Jane Silber

Nickname: Sez

Grade: 12

School: Northcliff High school

School subjects: English, Afrikaans, Maths, Life Orientation, History, Biology, Science

Favourite subjects: History, Biology and English

Hobbies: Reading magazines has to be my number-one hobby. I could spend hours paging through them! I also spend a lot of time reading people’s blogs and articles on the net and keeping up to date on the world’s happenings, especially the happenings in tinseltown (I’m celeb-crazed, what can I say?)

I like fashion, not to say that I’m actually fashionable, but I admire the creativity brought about by trends and style, and I love shopping, but unfortunately be credit card doesn’t agree. I’m very picky when it comes to reading books. I prefer biographies and non-fiction, but I’d definitely choose a magazine over a book any day!

Other interests: I’m mad about sports, and running is my favourite. I love traveling, photography, particularly wildlife and fashion photography, blogging and spending time with friends. Music is a big part of my everyday life. Singing and dancing along to my favourite tunes makes my day complete!

If you were an animal, what would you be, and why?

I’d like to say a cat, but I think I’d probably feel bad about lying around sleeping all day, so I’d rather be a fox because I prefer doing things on my own and I tend to be very quite and reserved at times. And of course I have that sly, devious sense about me.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Being able to pick a new superpower every day. And if that’s not possible, then invisibility. Need I even say why? It would be awesome!

What careers are you interested in, and why?

I’ve always been interested in the media, that is everything related to television, magazines and film. If I do go into the media business I want to work in the fast-hitting breaking news section where you’re always on your feet and doing interviews and reporting on stories, or I’d like to work at a magazine like Cosmo or seventeen and write feature articles. I’d much prefer to work overseas if I was to work in the media though, particularly New York.

My other career option would be in the medical field, specialising in researching and finding cures for diseases or helping people who are suffering from a disease. Health and fitness also interest me a lot and I’ve often thought of starting a business in that field.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

The most important thing for me, although it sounds cheesy, is to be happy in whatever I’m doing. I want to be successful, but I also want to enjoy whatever career I’ll be part of. I want to have travelled a lot, experienced a lot of new things, and have no regrets on what I “should have done”.

Who is your role model?

I don’t really have a specific role model, but I do look up to people who have a lot of work ethic and always have a smile on their face in the worst situations.

What’s your motto?

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by what you did.
