Getting to know Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison was an American inventor, scientist and businessman who developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, but how much do you really know about this inventor?

He didn’t let his age stand in the way of his aspirations. Did you know that Thomas built his first lab at the age of 10, according to

When he turned nine, his mother gave him a basic science book on how to do chemistry experiments at home. From that moment he was hooked and he did every experiment in the book, spending all his pocket money on chemicals.

Then, at the tender age of 10, he built his first science laboratory in the basement of his family’s home. Apparently his father tried to bribe him with a penny to get him out of the lab and to go read a book. This he did but he also used the money to buy more chemicals for more experiments. And to make sure no one took his prized chemicals, he labelled all the bottles “poison.” That alone is quite innovative, don’t you think?
