Imagine eating the same thing, forever!
Picture your favourite type of food. It can be anything, as long as it’s your absolute favourite.
Some of you are picturing pizza, or burgers, or carrots or red jellybeans aren’t you? Well, imagine only eating your favourite food for 15 years straight? Imagine having pizza (or red jellybeans) for breakfast, lunch, supper and in between snacks.
According to an article on www.lifeslittlemysteries.com, a British teenager collapsed and was rushed to the hospital after eating primarily chicken nuggets for the past 15 years. The teen has reportedly survived on her nugget-heavy diet, occasionally supplemented by a bag of chips or piece of toast, since she was a toddler.
This got us asking the question: what would happen if you ate the same thing for the rest of your life? For starters, one particular food type does not have all the necessary nutrients, and secondly, the taste may become rather dull don’t you think?
While certain foods may be rich in protein or carbohydrates, it may be lacking in Vit C which is essential to the human body.
In many parts of the world, people have no choice but to eat mostly one food: often, rice. Scientists are developing genetically modified rice that contains more vitamins and nutrients, especially vitamin A, in order to fight malnutrition.
