Death by laughter

Death by laughter

Did you know that fatal hilarity is death as a result of laughter?

In the year 3 BC, the great philosopher Chrysippus died of laughter after giving a donkey some wine to drink and watching it try to eat figs. (Hey, it wasn’t even THAT FUNNY).

On 24 March 1975, Alex Mitchell, a 50-year-old bricklayer literally died laughing while watching an episode of the Goodies. According to his wife, who was the witness, Mitchell was unable to stop laughing whilst watching a sketch in the episode “kung fu kapers”.

After 25 minutes of continuous laughter Mitchell finally stumped on the sofa and expired from heart failure.

That’s pretty scary stuff! Whatever ever happened to laughter being the best medicine?
